Dear Selena.

Dear Selena, when life happens it'll say "Knock knock." And you being the fool, giving it the benefit of the doubt will say- "Who is there?" "Depres-" "Depres who?" "Depression." Well, that's a terrible way to start a letter. Maybe your depression was like a practical joke- It played on your conscious; "I wasn't supposed to be life threatening" - It says like an innocent child. Depression shouldn't have been the reason why almost took your life. Constant ache, constant strife. It gave you examples of what you will never have but through the darkness you found light. Picking and plucking at the reasons of what you'll be leaving behind. Family and friends, all with desperate minds- Trying to figure where did it go wrong? Living a life on a persistent 'who dunnit' Wasn't it your demons who drove you into this uncontrolled insanity? Life that held an iron first wrapped around your throat? Or maybe you were cursed- doomed from the very beginning? But somehow beyond the fake smiles "I'm fine" you'd say- all lies. There was a part of you that hid in silence. The deafening silence was much louder than any words. This part of you Selena, came out of its hiding spot like a black cat, stealthy on its feet And you grasped onto it; for it was hope. With trembling and fragile hands, you held on. Too afraid to let go. And hope gave you reasons why you had to keep fighting. Taught you that happiness is not a destination, But a way of life. It showed you that you were good enough. And that taking your life- Would've been a damn shame. Something you'd carry with even in death. Embarrassment would've had you rolling in your graves And I hope that hope remains in your life, Maybe it'll be the knight in shiny armor that you always wanted. You've been through enough. Time to start realizing how important your existence is Start being and feeling alive.
