Dear Self Doubt,

For years I allowed you

To hold me captive–

A prisoner,

A slave,

trapped in my own mind.

I walked within your perimeters.

Chained to certainty

Stuck on the shore.

Never venturing into the unknown

in fear that I was insufficient.

The second I would start to think otherwise

you whispered lies.

Lies that I believed for far too long.

But not anymore.

I know now that I am enough.

I am sufficient.

I no longer watch the waves from the shore,

but charge toward them at full force.

The chains of doubt

that once shackled me

are gone.

I am free.

Free to roam into the unknown

knowing I am capable of anything.

Sincerely,

A girl who learned to believe in herself.
