Dear Silence

Dear Silence,

Thank you for your time, for your comfort, and your peace.

I can count on you when I feel numb, when I can't breathe

Silence, you are my bestfriend

The only one who truly understands

Nighttime is my favorite, you sit there and listen to my thoughts

Something about you brings me peace

When I am with you a small tear will stream down my cheek

I am most vulnerable with you

I let you see my demons

You don't reply you just listen

Thank you for holding me close so I don't feel alone

You protect me, watch over me, and you love me when no one else did.

And for that silence I will forever be grateful

Love,

Ashley Merlo
