Dear Sister
I don’t thank you enough for all that you do.
So, let me start off by saying, thank you.
For praising my accomplishments and boosting my confidence,
because without you, my thoughts would be bottomless.
When I feel lost, you allow me to alleviate my conscious,
and although the words of mine astonish you,
you listen anyway.
You always listen.
Sometimes I admonish you that these thoughts are changing me,
and ranging me and draining me.
But then you say something to detain them by
saying the words to say to sustain me.
I’m sorry for my obsession with my depression.
And for my thoughts turning my feelings into aggression.
But you must understand that they’re always in my head,
and even if I fled,
they'd catch up to tell me I should be dead,
and wait for my veins to leak the liquid red.
But suddenly you come about and get rid of the fear by
easing the pain I’ve endeared.
You steer my mind away from the darkness
and you’re there for me regardless,
and somehow my thoughts become harmless.
I don’t thank you enough for all that you do.
So, let me end by saying, thank you.
