Dear Skeletons

Dear Skeletons,

i don’t know when it happened
when your hands wrapped around me and twisted till i couldn’t breathe
how could i not notice my own suffocation
how did i not struggle not even once
i went limp and saw god and his face was familiar
how did i lose all of myself when i lost you
music, spirit, love
the three locked arms and waltzed out the door
no goodbye just their backs
i know how this happened
you spoke,
you spoke and the universe spilled out your mouth
you touched and my wetness
dripping down my legs
love but it’s not love
when will i learn
you speak with your mouth but your brain hasn’t caught up
you’re supposed to be smart
i guess that’s how you did it
you used that genius iq to weave me into your life expertly around the other two who were already there
when i dared to ask, you dodged
i was just so crazy
so paranoid
nothing was going on
if nothing was going on how did you fuck two other girls as you whispered you loved me
how did i love a demon like you

Love, the flesh you no longer own
