Dear Society

Dear Society,

As soon as I come from my mother you put me into a box

Yo.Ain't.Dawg.Bro

But those arent the words I spoke

I'm sorry I'm educated and I know how to speak,

But black girls are uneducated til you see me

You want to say "oh look a black girl she knows how to speak,

So I'm not disrespectful I'll say she sounds like me"

I like to wear my hair down my back; sometimes I don't wear it in a fro

You think I have self hate even ridicule me, but when its a fro you call it nappy so...

Someome forgot to give me YOUR instructions on MY life

I didn't know to be me meant I didn't "act black"

So Dear Society as soon as I come from my mother I'm put into a box

I'm so sorry I don't fit into your box
