I knew you were the one when I saw you

You were scared and whined and shook

I was scared too

But I knew you were the one when I saw you

You make me laugh at the smallest things you do

Like barking when nothing is there

Or when your mouth gets hooked in your tooth

        and you look like a small saber-toothed cat

But I knew you were the one when I saw you

We went through hard times

Our other dog not liking you

And almost having to bring you back

But I knew you were the one when I saw you

We pushed through

And it has been one year since we rescued you

You’ve been the best dog I imagined you to be
