Dear Sunshine
Dear sunshine,
You bring life to all you touch.
Morning glories open up to you and you alone.
No flashlight or fire or even the moon
can make them do that much.
No child's drawing is complete unless
the corner of the paper you caress.
Every day, you rise from the east. This
natural alarm shining through windows.
You bring man back from the depts of
worlds created in their subconsciousness.
Nothing but joy do I feel when your rays
of heat kiss my skin. How I loved those
summers of my youth. I felt I could bask
in your warmth for the rest of my days.
How I used to yearn for your return
throughout those cloudy, rainy spells.
There was no candle I could burn
that could my longing for you quell.
Oh, how long since I have found
on my skin your kiss of light. They
stacked dirt between us one clear day.
Now I'm stuck six feet underground.
Love,
Corpse
