Dear Teens...

Dear Teens, what are you doing? Firstly, before you attack me, I did not ask “what are WE doing?” for a specific reason. I can say without hesitation that I do not do what most of you are doing. Now this is not to insult or embarrass anyone, this is simply to get an answer. What are you doing? Why are you doing this? Why are you having babies, when you’re a baby yourself? Why are you getting drunk off of alcohol, when you can’t even handle soda responsibly? Why are you smoking, when you see commercials on the TV of adults getting sick off of those killers? Why are you acting reckless, when you know that you’ll have regret about it later in life? You want to be treated as an adult, so start acting like it. Act like you have a brain in that skull. Act like you want to have a career you love when you get out of school. Act like you don’t want to be in a job where the best thing you could brag to your friends about is that you didn't burn yourself on the deep fryer. Go ahead. Call me every name in the book, but you know what I’m saying is true. We’re supposed to be the new generation. Do you really want future generations to remember us as the generation that was filled with YOLO/SWAG followers, attention seekers, “trolls”, jerks, punks, and other various disgraces? If you do…please, just get out of here… If you don’t, thank goodness. You just gave me some hope in this generation. There’s still a chance to change. Stop having sex when you’re not ready. Stop being rude and mean to people that you might need in the future. Stop disobeying your parents; they have enough problems without you harassing them constantly. Stop drinking and doing drugs when you know it’s killing you. I’m sorry to say, but you’re not a superhero. Welcome to “The Real World”. I’ll be your guide. Which path will you be taking?
