Dear Tommy

Dear Tommy,

It seems as though the years flew by,

six years to be exact.

And throughout those six years much has happened,

yet not the things I hoped for.

As you know, you are always on my mind,

and it's hard to accept that I am almost never on yours.

You float around my thoughts,

you inhabit my dreams,

and you lift my spirit.

Yet the it seems as though the years flew by.

Day by day you give me a purpose, a reason to wake up

a happy thought when I need it.

Yet it seems as though the years flew by...

Not because life moves fast, or I am forgetting to "stop and smell the roses"-

But because when two people are in love,

time stops.

Everything moves in slow motion, and it seems as though there is nobody

except the two of you.

But you don't love my back, you never did.

Much has happened in the past six years,

but not the things I hoped for.

It seems as though the years flew by.

Love (although not reciprocated),

Shannon
