Dear Tomorrow
Dear Tomorrow,
I've waited for your arrival now,
for quite some time.
Sitting staring at the door,
Anxious to see what you'll look like.
Will you look like what everyone thinks?
Or be something completely different?
Will you be green and vibrant with life?
Or grey and filled with uncertainty?
I've waited for your arrival now,
For quite some time.
Sitting staring at the door,
Anxious to hear what you sound like.
Will you sound like choirs of angels?
Or suppressed silence never to be heard?
Will you sound like a youthful wisdom?
Or a voice of stubborn ignorance?
I've waited for your arrival now,
For quite some time.
Sitting staring at the door,
Anxious to see your characteristics.
Will you embrace me in an endearing hug?
Or nod your head with disapproval?
Will you shake my hand with confidence?
Or crush it with unyielding power?
I've waited for your arrival now,
For quite some time.
Sitting staring at the door,
Anxious to meet your acquaintance.
But the hours go by,
And the clock seems unending.
And I can't help but wonder “what if”.
What if I don't enjoy your presence.
What if you don't enjoy mine.
But the greatest wonder of all is if
You never come at all.
