Dear Unborn Babies

Dear unborn babies,

You are perfect symbols of unity,

But somehow your rights

Are overlooked in my community.

Each of you is special,

Created in an image of divinity.

And that alone

Should award you equal opportunity.

Young women,

Many claim to fight for your rights.

Equal opportunity is important,

And so is your life.

Without life the other rights cease to exist.

Your freedom to fight,

And of making a choice

Are defeated by those with an audible voice.

Your future is special

Whatever you do.

Whether you fix toilets

Or cure the flu.

But your future is shattered

By those who would want to undo

The results of their actions,

That's not fair to you!

Dear lovely young girls and boys,

Please do not be dismayed.

Though powerless you remain,

Please do not be afraid.

I march for your rights,

I've prayed and I've prayed.

And there are others like me.

Hundreds of thousands parade.

The law is not permanent,

And we intend to amend

The legislation that harms you.

It must be put to an end.

Don't fear, you're not alone.

700,000 of your friends

Will restore morality to America again.

This poem is about an issue really close to my heart: the issue of abortion. I am pro-life, and attended the March for Life in Washington, D.C. this year, and it was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. Many people do not realize how many pro-life people exist, since the media tends to focus on more liberal ideas. The experience connected my to tens of thousands of people my age due to a common goal: protecting fetuses. I still consider myself to be a feminist in the traditonal sense, and I believe feminism has been misguided in the pro-choice movement. I seek to protect the rights of all women, whether they are 2 moth old embryos or 98 year old senior citizens. Thank you for reading my poem, and I hope you consider it for its content as well as its literary techniques.
