Dear Uncle
Dear Uncle Ronnie,
It’s been 5 months since you talked to my parents,
2 since you talked to me.
Did we do something wrong?
Is there a reason you don’t want to talk to me?
To my sister?
Why are you ignoring my grandma…your mom?
You know you’re all she thinks about;
You fill her thoughts from sunrise to sunset.
You’re the first and last thing on our minds…did you know that?
I hope you’re doing well, I would ask you myself but I’m not sure you’d answer.
I hope my cousin is ok;
I hope she knows that I exist and that she misses me.
I’m trying to stay strong, but it’s hard when you’re gone.
Thanksgiving is in a couple days, you won’t be there.
It’ll be the first Thanksgiving we haven’t spent together in 17 years.
I hope you have a good one.
Also, Merry Christmas; you won’t come then either.
And happy new year; I hope you can stick to your resolutions;
And maybe they involve you wanting to talk to me.
Maybe you’ll come watch me graduate.
If you think about it this whole thing started with a graduation party.
Maybe you just needed a year to process your thoughts.
Maybe by then everything will be fine and we’ll act like we used to.
Things will be normal again…
But I hope you know nothing will be normal ever again…even if you come back to our family.
From now on everything will be different; I hope you know that.
I want you to know that I still love you and I miss you ever day.
Goodbye for now
Love, Kaitlyn
