Dear universe,
Dear universe,
You are the death of everything.
You are flowers wilting away,
On my grandmother's grave.
Destruction isn't meant to run it's handprint
Over the life springing out
Of an already lifeless thing.
You are the tears running down my best friend's face.
When the one she loved,
Realized she was easy to replace.
How could you bring a soul with so much wonder,
An everlasting amount of grief.
You are empty stomachs never getting fed,
Yet full stomachs
Filled with more than their body can stand.
You are voices that shake my flesh like thunder,
Pain that stammers and slurs towards my veins.
An unforgettable scent of whiskey.
Dear universe, you are all of these things.
But you are also so much more.
You are old photographs,
That were taken in the middle of memories.
An Image that can never be replaced,
And lessons that can never be erased.
You are my bestfriend whispering
"I'm finally glad to be alive."
As she looks into the eyes on a person
Who will cherish her smile for the rest of his life.
You are the comfortable silence,
With words that need not be said.
Because each other's company,
Speaks wisdom that humans cannot comprehend.
You may have created my destruction,
But you also created enough time
To wash away even the filthiest of touches
And heal even the deepest wounds.
Dear universe,
I thank you.
