Dear World

Dear World,

You are not what you once were. I can see that you are broken. Life itself is beautiful,  I can see the fragments of its’  light shining through. But you’re broken, world. I feel you breathing heavily, with an immense weight on your shoulders. Your heart is racing, pounding out of your chest, as if it were screaming “Let me out. Let me out of here.” Your head is way too big for your body, you have a great mind and I am here to tell you that great minds think alike. I can help you. I help make  the change that everyone is hoping for. I can turn a little piece of you around and rearrange it until,  little by little, you start to feel like yourself again, in hopes that one day, everyone will grab a piece and make you whole again. Where did you go? I’ve missed you. The polluted air is covering up the evergreens, the riots in the cities are making people feel hated, I cannot sleep knowing that another man has killed a man, I cannot focus my mind waiting for someone to give these children a home, the poverty is unimaginable, like damn, give this man a home, my senses are raging, my heart is hurting, as humans we walk all over you not knowing how much you can take, how can they not care?  For you are Mother Nature, and without you, would we be there? I’m asking you to take my hand, for I am holding it out to you. You hold the opportunities that I call my future, and with them, I will make myself great. I will make my future great! My feet will rest upon your soil.  I will allow my heart to take me wherever it sees fit, mending you on my way. I won’t hurt you, world. I have nothing but love putting weight on my shoulders. Nothing can break me, I won’t change how I feel. I will love you unconditionally, I will hold your heart in my hands as I carry on in my future, for it is fragile. I will hold onto you like the back of my hand, never letting go, and making myself learn until my mind is overgrown. I will learn for you, I will make change for you, I will hold you up like a mother raises her baby, I will make sure that you are done no harm. As I walk through the hallways on my graduation day, I will make sure that you are in my mind, I’ll be praying. Praying for the day where I see the change I made. Looking back and saying “look who I became.” We can make this change, humans can make a change, they just need to change.

Sincerely,

  Sierra H.
