Dear World,
Dear World,
After the big bang and the loud voice,
The trees whispered
Before the sun beamed and the tables turned
The grass collected its’ first morning dew
When the water dropped and the stones skipped
The birds drowned and the fish flew
Soon the ground split, the clouds rose
And the air was filled with an unforgettable fragrance
The world was perfect…
After the dirt molded into a new beginning,
The animals were named, and the trees were cut,
The grass was grown, and the flowers bloomed,
The ground was dug, but the earth doesn’t care who digs it
Before the moon set and the sun rose,
The rivers wept, and the forests danced
When words were forgotten but memories lasted
Seasons, clocks, days, and time were created
Soon the people changed, and colors drifted from art
While the stones stacked, and the arrows pierced
The world was different…
After metal replaced clay and books were burnt,
Time became perspectives, and they were locked away
Before the sun’s green flash, and the sand’s relocation,
The valleys conversed with each other.
While the emptiness in the sky
Overlooked the insects who were thankful,
the rocks became damaged and so did my heart.
Thank you World, for opening my eyes when the sky was too dark.
Sincerely, C.J. Garcia
