Dear World
Dear World,
Can I ask you a question?
What goes through your heart
when you see a rose bloom?
When the sky is perfect,
or when a butterfly hatches?
What do you feel when the wind blows
on a sunny day and a child laughs
as they lay out in the sun?
Oh, my dear World,
What's on your mind
when love is found in darkness
or when a baby learns to walk?
When a family comes together
or when a beautiful song is written?
Dear World,
Does it hurt when a child cries?
When harsh words ring out
and when countries go to war?
When violence and blood spread,
or when hate is thrown around
as if it were all there is?
My dear, dear World,
What can I do, World?
To see that days are always shining
and that every person is always smiling?
I promise, World.
To see a day when miracles abound
And the lives around me are brighter,
I'll be better, World, somehow.
Love,
Hope for a Better World.
