Dear You

Dear You,

I see that pain behind your eyes.

The loss you feel when a loved one dies,

It heals, but will never be complete.

The memories saved are just too sweet.

Dear You,

I see that light behind your eyes,

As you smile while your baby cries.

The love you feel makes your eyes grow moist;

It is the first time you have heard his voice.

Dear You,

I see that tiredness in your eyes.

Despite your efforts to disguise.

You work so hard, and no one sees,

But You are strong and you will succeed.

Dear You,

I see that excitement in your eyes,

As your plans begin to finalize.

The college is chosen, the choices are made.

Now you enter your future unafraid.

Dear You,

I see the hurt behind your eyes.

The way he told you all those lies.

He left you thinking you were not enough,

But now you know you are better off.

Dear You,

I see the Joy behind your eyes.

Your smile glows brighter than any sunrise.

You stand there in your dress of white,

The love you feel shining oh so bright.

Dear you,

I see the wonder behind your eyes,

As you read this not seeing what it implies.

What I want to convey is that each unique story

Is found, if one searches, behind the eyes.

Sincerely,

~ Me
