Dear You
Dear You,
We are done.
We should have been finished a long time ago,
Yet I still welcomed you with open arms.
You were something of a comfort.
Something I was used to.
Something I subconsciously wanted.
Something I got over,
But never moved on from.
You left me feeling stuck in the same place for years.
Never moving.
Leaving me feeling unsteady and all over the place,
Yet stable and contained at the same time.
You kept me up through the nights,
And asleep through the days.
Everyone has their opinions on how to get rid of you.
Still, I ignored them saying,
“That won’t work, I’ve tried that.”
“I’m dealing with it in my own way.”
“I know what I’m doing.”
But you convinced me to think that way,
Didn’t you?
You weaved your way through my brain,
Creating a chemical imbalance,
Forcing a pill down my throat every day,
Just in an attempt to get rid of you.
I know for certain that you’ll always be there in the back of my mind,
Waiting for something little to set me off.
Still,
That won’t stop me from fighting you.
Sure, you have won multiple battles,
But I will be the one winning this war.
