Dear You
I saw you in my dreams last night
A jaded reality
I heard the words that were never said
An illusion choked up in my head
I found you where the land meets the sea
Two different pasts destined to meet
I showed you how to dance in the rain
You showed me how to deal with the pain
The despair disappeared for a while
You were the one person that could make me smile
I taught you how to set yourself free
You taught me how to drift away at sea
Felt lost all my life
Felt the sharp edges of the knife
Your love cut deeper than my blade
For a brief moment I didn't feel afraid
To love
Our love ended before it ever really began
You just couldn't be that type of man
My glass mind now scattered
My crystal heart now shattered
To pieces
Your words find me every now and then
Was I just another toy in your playpen?
I don't think so
Maybe I'll never know
Ever
You're the reason I can't sleep every night
You said the timing just wasn't right
But your words meant so much to me
For once in my life I felt free
At last
Is it bad I still think about you?
Sometimes I think about what you want, or who
Me?
I guess it was never meant to be
Forever
The scars will fade
You never turned out to be who you portrayed
But I'll be fine one day
Even with you far, far away
From me
We were so real, not a silhouette
Now my life feels like an endless pirouette
Maybe one day I'll spin into the right person's arms
And forget about all of your charms
That once meant something
I helped you find yourself
You helped me love myself
It's over now
