Dear Younger Me
Dear Younger Me,
I wish I could go back in time,
To tell you about all the things that would become of your life.
Or maybe,
I could go back;
And tell you about all the qualities in this life,
That you will surely lack.
You've come so far.
The road goes on.
I'd tell you about how in a few months,
Your home would be all gone.
Or maybe,
I'd relive some times.
The good, the bad, the funniest and the ones that gave me strife.
Remember when,
You wanted to grow up?
Well that time is finally here:
And now I'm thinking "Not so much".
Enjoy your childhood,
While it lasts.
Cause soon they'll just me memories,
Visions from your past.
I'm leaving soon;
From this small town.
We always wanted to,
But now it's here and I can't help but frown.
I miss your smile,
Your little laugh.
Now I look for both those things in a stack of old photographs.
But maybe,
I wouldn't change a thing.
Because the mistakes that you made,
Were the choices that made me.
So keep going.
Make mistakes.
Because the older that you get,
You realize there are risks you have to take.
I'll leave you now,
With that light in your eyes.
Only to tell you that this,
I won't let be our last goodbye.
Yours truly,
Me.
