Dear Younger Me

Dear Younger Me,

Watching you grow

Into something beautiful

I realize this world

Is not worthy of a creature so pure as you.

Eyes like sparkling stars,

Containing multitudes of constellations.

Your love is honest

Like the love only children and puppies can show.

Learning to walk,

To run and jump and fall,

Stumbling around,

Laughing at your mistakes

We need to learn to embrace failure the way you do.

Please stay young forever.

Do not grow old and cynical

Because the world is a better place

Every time you laugh .

Looking back at this beautiful life

There are a few things I wish I had known.

So here

Is my advice to you.

It is alright to feel pain.

To cry when times get tough.

It is only through this pain

that we are able to know

True Joy.

Speak honestly.

Fight for the things you love.

There are going to be times when

the world seems against you.

To get through them

you must know

Who you truly are.

Work hard at all you do.

You don’t know it yet

but it will pay off.

Love Unconditionally.

Dance in the rain.

Make music.

Take chances.

Smile.

Laugh.

Above all else,

Enjoy this wonderful life

you are lucky to live.

It’s a good one.

Meg
