Dear Younger Me
Dear Younger Me,
Once so young, careless, and free.
Growing up can be a wonderful thing.
You’ll laugh and cry, with friends by your side
You’ll be filled with joy, hoping it never dies.
But the day will come when that happiness will seize.
Your heart will get broken,
Your eyes will shed tears.
The world is a nasty place, I know it’s hard to hear.
People are cruel, heartless, and mean.
Stealing joy and causing riots.
No one cares about the silent.
People are in debt, they have nothing left.
Children cry and mothers weep,
Some families have nothing to eat.
Society gives you standards, that are impossible to meet.
To survive in this world popularity is key.
No natural beauty, only plastic and fake.
The world is changing,
Try to keep up.
You’ll grow up too fast.
Oh honey, good luck.
Society will be cruel.
Insecure is what you’ll be.
Looking in the mirror, hating what you see.
Fake smiles and name brand clothes,
That's what you’ll wear.
Don’t share your feelings,
People will freak.
We live in a world where your judged everytime you speak.
You’ll feel lonely in a crowded room.
Nobody’s there to help you.
You were once so innocent,
So sweet and cute.
But the world is a nasty place...
It’s only ruined you.
