Dear Younger Self

Dear younger self,

 I know when you were little you always wanted to read and you refused to let any teacher or person assume that just because you are dyslexic, that you wouldn't be able to read or write. 

Don't think of dyslexia as a disability but as a different ability. It is something that makes you unique. Don't let your insecurities stop you from doing something to reach your goals. Don't give up when something gets hard; just keep climbing the mountain. When you reach the top you’re going to be filled with so much joy that you will forget how hard it was to get there.    

Right now you may not know what your future looks like. You have time to figure yourself out, figure out your goals, and figure out your dreams before you graduate.

You, however, are a wise, experienced and knowledgeable girl. Be sure to do the things you wish to do. I hope that you stay true to yourself, maintain your beliefs and stand your ground. You will meet a lot of people along the way, but you are who you are and you should never change for anyone! I know that you will see some good days and you will see some really ugly days, but you will be stronger than ever. You will face some of the biggest challenges you’ll have to face in life and overcome these obstacles. So good job! You can now look at the real world with the confidence it takes to make something of yourself. So go ahead and put yourself out there, reach your goals, and do whatever it takes to succeed in school and life. Along the way make sure you’re still happy and filled with love.
