Dearest Friend
Do you ever feel like the sun?
Because you’re by far the brightest one
Yes, the night stars are neat
But with you they cannot compete
Do you ever feel like the summer breeze?
Because your warmth flows with gentle ease
Yes, your life whispers compassions
With your soft caring fashions
Do you ever feel like the lightning blast?
Because you strike out from your past
Yes, a heart booming from emotions’ keep
Where wit and annoyance echo from the deep
Do you ever feel like the sprinkling rain?
Because there’s ironic beauty in your pain
Yes, you drip with joyous grievings
When you sigh through loss or leavings
Do you ever feel like spring flowers?
Because once awake you bloom for hours
Yes, you express simple passionate speech
Eager to listen or gently teach
I hope you feel like my dear friend in time
Because I know you fit nature's rhyme
Yes, you alone most definitely are
In everything wonderfully bizarre
