Death

I have looked in the eyes of death

.....and it is careless

It shares no sympathy for its victims

Frail and shivering before this mighty  God

With a shadow as far as time

A slight grin curls its greedy lips blackened by the feast of the taking

I have looked in the eyes of death....

And saw myself.
