Death

Running is the one thing that we can do to survive

Large creatures roam the destroyed park

Searching for their prey

Running, falling, bleeding

Velociraptor eyes darting from side to side

They discern our scent through the blood

Closing the gap between us

Throwing open doors, searching for sanctuary

Capture the comfort of a cabinet

Dark, deserted, desolate; hiding from the dangers outside

Growling, scratching, stalking into our safe haven

Hungry with determination to tear us limb from limb

Mistakes made causing us to flee

To our extinction.

Claws shredding the flesh off our bodies

Screaming, crying with blood stained shirts

Holding onto what’s left in this life

We finally understand that no one’s coming to save us

And let death consume our bodies

On this day we realized

Death is inevitable
