Death

Misunderstood I am.

Other Fear my coming,

For I bring a kiss,

Denoting the end.

Why men fear the end,

I do not know.

My kiss is gentle

Dissolving all pain.

I detest this act,

Seizing one’s life.

What choice do I have,

For life must end.

When men wither away,

Or in perpetual agony,

I bring them refuge,

An end to suffering.

When I come,

Man will never know.

Upon my kiss,

Tears will fall.

Yet time passes,

Lives remembered,

Lives forgotten,

Lives begin anew.

I continue on,

Cursed by eternity,

And feared by all,

Yet I love thee.
