Death is a Cruel Phantom
Death is a cruel phantom
That’s all that I need to say
He goes to someone at random
And makes their life fade away
You were my best friend
Inseparable we were
All the puzzles we would mend
Were gone in a blur
You always made me laugh
And let me sit on your lap
Smiled in every photograph
And then you left in a snap
You made the best popcorn
You loved all stray cats
Never were you filled with mourn
Showed love with hugs and pats
But now that you’re gone
I’ve been able to break and fall
You look at me from upon
But do you hear my call
I cry more and more day and night
I need your hand on my shoulder
Without it there I have a great fright
And my desire for you is like a boulder
I was the youngest grandchild
So I sadly saw you the least
With the thought of you, I smiled
But my guilt inside is a beast
Grandpa, I know you’ll never see this
But I just want you to know
I miss you, I need one more kiss
Because the youngest is sad and low
