Death Do Us Part

The taste of rust was faint on my tongue

The smell of dust was the only scent I could smell

Smoke filled the heavens above me

Yet I could not reach them.

The air was thick with the cries of men

My face was slick with sweat

But I was not afraid

I felt content in the end.

It was my fate that had been sealed

It was too late for regrets and sorrow

Now was not the time

It was time for joy, that all the pain would be gone.

So no I was not crying in the end

I was smiling at the thought of release.
