Death Doesn't Scare Me

Death doesn't scare me.

I don't think of it as a

looming black shadow,

ambiguous and fleeting,

following my every move.

Waiting.

Waiting for me to slip up,

so it can snatch me in my prime.

No, death is not like that.

Death is an action,

and activity I'll participate in when it's my time.

Death is when I decided it's time to move on.

To leave this world of harsh sounds for white noise.

To leave the color and darkness for eternal light.

To be sure, death is sad.

It means moving on,

away from loved ones

and from the comfort of home.

It means leaving behind jobs and dreams.

But it also means freedom.

Freedom from gnawing hunger and breathtaking pain.

Freedom from all the worst emotions;

Anger.

Fear.

Jealousy.

Disappointment.

Death means the end of everything,

good and bad.

So that you can move on.
