Death In Our Future

Time rolls on

A silent countdown

to nothing in particular

Each second gone

worthless in its succession

Leading up

to more decisions to be made

and more meaningless worries

that haunt the spirit in spite

Every minute disappears

killing a dream

each time with it

and dragging it

to the pit of our souls

to rot and infect our bodies

Every waking hour

there is a young soul

hoping and striving for something more

still alive but inching closer

to the future
