death at sea

quickly snatched from the cool moist ground,

abandoned with others, confined within bounds,

intertwined with each other and covered with slime,

a steamy raw stench more pungent with time,

a rumbling disturbance, we all start to squirm,

plucked from the greasy mass, a true grip that’s firm,

my head's entrapped, the point of no return,

the other end dangling with nowhere to turn,

sharp barbed steel just appeared within sight,

I shudder in anguish, disturbed by my plight,

the first precise pierce, a twinging bloody gash,

severe pangs rang through me, with the next savage slash,

writhing in pain, by drowning I will die,

with my last breath, I ask myself “why?"
