The Death Sentence of Smoking

I see how intensely

you take a drag

on your cigarette

down

    toward

        the bottom

          of your lungs

as the hands of the smoke

suffocates you

as if you’re trying to bring back

every vision and ambition

you had

   exhaling

     letting it go.

You are much better than that,

Throwing away the life you had,

You might not live to see the day,

Where your daughter can call you dad

Although your life may be a mess

You do not want to cause your family distress
