Death is Sweet That Way
The funny thing about death is how you realize the hug is warm and cold
Warm like the days of spring and cool like a breeze of October kissing your cheeks
It warms a heart of memories and appreciation through the hums of music that echo through a church
And turns it cold to the touch
Like a broken heart turned sour
Who do you think you are anyways?
Do you want just the cold of your fingertips on a winter morning to be the last way you touched a heart?
Heartbreak is death
It kills you inside
It makes you rot in self doubt and overwhelms you like a flood
Drowning
I’m sorry my death doesn’t warrant any condolences
You can’t even show up to the funeral
My death will make me rot
But from the rot will grow a sunflower
Death takes its time finding roots to grow inside you
Blooming in your chest as it squeezes the breathe out of your lungs when you cry
Drawn to your throat it shakes through the shallow of your voice and fingertips like the cold of November whispers down your back
Your eyes water through the sunlight mourning your death
The roots will weep like the arms of a willow tree
This is how you die
But when the sun shines through your tears and the moon rises beckoning your sorrow
They’ll still love you as much as death does
Death will be the love of your life
Death holds onto you with secret whispers of freedom
He’ll always bring flowers to your funeral
Soon your smile will be in bloom with roses on your cheeks that make the sunflowers bashful because they’re not as beautiful as you are
The sun will rise to make you shine
And the moon will wrap its beauty around you
Though the sun and moon rise for you
You are the one who will rise by yourself
For yourself
Death will smell like sweet lavender from hugs that pass through memories of them
Their image will die in its lies of perfection
The sun will shine through the shallow of their heart to bring light to how they’ve killed you before
Murder is lying to your face
Murder is how they make you cry
Murder is not taking responsibility
Murder is you
And your sentence is to live with yourself
From the moon, the tides of tears will come in waves
Washing over your face like kisses
Your sorrow washes off their back like rain
Let the tsunami rage through you
Let it wash over your brain like kisses on your lips in hopes to drown the memories of his on yours
Let it seep into your pillow at 3am
Find love in midnight's colorless sorrow
Drink dawn into your heart's content.
