Death Is By Your Side

I saw Death yesterday. His frail, pale, dusty obeisance, Edged closer to my presence. He hinders me from passing by. He waited for me after school, Waited while I walked alone, Waited while I hummed my song, Waited while I made that call. He sat in my passenger seat, Gazed at me and saw my sorrow. He knew about tomorrow, But Death was not at all distraught. Through my tears, he saw the child. He helped me put on my brakes, He was there with me when we flipped. Death died, but I lived.
