Death's Queen
It loomed behind her
Like a fallen angel
Always in her shadow
Watching her every move
It whispered in her ear
Causing doubt to bloom in her heart
And fear to haunt her thoughts
At night, it stood over her bed
Forcing her to stay awake
Sleep became impossible to achieve
Without experiencing a horrific nightmare
Her screams echoed through
The empty house
Falling on the deaf ears
Of the ghosts in the hall
Afraid to leave but
Terrified to stay
She waited helplessly
To be saved
But nobody came
The Darkness closed in
The Air escaped her lungs
Her Heart began skipping beats
Before her Life was done
Death was looming nearer
It beckoned to her
Like an old Friend
So warm and inviting
Death called to her in
The honey-sweet voice of a mother
Calling out to her child.
She stopped fighting the inevitable
She gave into her fate
Her breathing slowed
Her heart beat less
And Time stood still
Death wrapped His skeletal arms
Around her frail figure
Welcoming her to his Dark realm
His icy kiss graced her forehead
Sealing her fate as His new
Queen of the Dead
He courted her for so long
Watching her from afar
Moving ever closer
Hoping to feel an ounce
Of her Love
But finally,
She accepted his love
Death, the King of the Underworld, Himself
Now knew Love in his new
Queen, who was now by
His side
Forever.
