Debt with a Smile

We all know the feeling,

When my parents saw the cost they started reeling.

Future clouded in debt,

I’ll make it through, wanna bet?

Crisp green stacks I’ll never see,

Maybe one day I’ll be debt free?

College has always been a dream,

But the gorge I have to pass used to be a stream.

No I’m not poor,

Yet I still can’t believe the aid, why not more?

I wish I could talk to aid officers I’d give quite a pitch,

I am not poor, but far from rich.

“It was cheap back in the day.”

Yeah, well how on earth am I gonna pay?

“It’s fine,” I groan,

Loans loans loans.

Everyone does it,

Maybe I’ll work a bit.

Maybe more,

I’m sorry I’m probably such a bore.

I have to go back to my 60K education,

But watch next year they’ll adjust for inflation.
