Deceitful

They told me eyes were the window to the soul,

That’s a lot for someone so young to hold.

What is the truth at such an age?

Because what I see is not love, more rage.

Your words so tender, and caring.

Your actions so hateful, so daring.

I never meant to miss your call,

But I will tell my mother it was just a fall.

I never meant to make you worry,

Next time, I promise, I’ll hurry.

Please, don’t be mad that I lied.

I know I promised I wouldn’t cry.

Another slam, push, shove.

How could anyone consider this love?

But how should I know?

They told me eyes were the window to the soul.

I really love this poem. Children have such a young mind that is so unbiased and pure. They always have that gut feeling towards things and go through so much that isn't understood until later. This explains it well.
