Dear Grandpa,

The room was filled with empty laughs.

We were forcing ourselves to feel anything,

but what our hearts were feeling

or nothing at all.

If those words never left lips,

we could continue in our bliss.

If those images never came to life,

we would be just fine.

But, those words did leave lips.

And those images did come to life.

And those empty laughs became heartfelt tears.

Then those tears brought back the years that you gave us.

The memories you’ll take with you

and the moments that will always be with us.

And though, none of this seems real,

you were

and having you in our life

will always be more than enough.

Love,

        Mariha a.k.a Monkey Lou
