Decency

All I need is a warm breath on a winter day

All I need is a hug; someone to tell me, "It's gonna be ok.."

All I need most in this world is a break

From the day to day stretch towards a predictable ending to this story of a life

With no fairy-tale endings quite in sight

Hindsight is 20/20

That's what they told us the day we left

All you need in this life is more stuff, they said

So we shouted back, afraid of being buried under more futuristic propaganda

All we need is a little more kindness

In this desolate shell of what could of been

All we need is a little less cruelty

Does anyone remember the horrors that have struck this land?

All we need is unity

Hand in hand, refusing to sign off on papers that mumble of promises yet to be filled

All we need is trust

Trust that we have rights accessible to all humans; not just most

Orwell spoke of it, "We're all equal, but some of us are more equal."

In a farm, we live

The years of outrage slowly building behind a fortress in the mind's eye

All we need is each other

To help in this daily struggle we call living

All we need is each other

To fight against our oppressors, named as pigs

Napoleon , struck with a single moment of clarity in a drunken haze

Only to be struck down not a second later with a reckoning like no other

All we need is something to speak

Really speak with

This entity combining our hearts and minds as one

They speak of it as a 'mystical' and 'fantasy' force

As if it doesn't lie in everyone

As if it can't be coaxed to bloom not unlike a rose in springtime

All we need is humanity

The decency that bounds behind even the most unresponsive

All we need is each other

That is all we need
