A declaration of war

A dark abyss swallows my soul
Lonely and cold, out of control
I push and I push
Inside, always breaking
Never forgetting, Never forsaking
A smile, simple
It hides my fear
As the struggle rages, to hold back my tears...
Strength?
Or weakness?
That I carry on,
Making them smile
Or trying at least
Strength?
Or weakness?
I haven't taken that release
I refuse to lose
Unto my shadow
I can't stop fighting,
I don't know how
I'll keep him at bay and continue to smile
Relying on friends and faith all the while
Sorrow unending
Pain is nothing
That's just life, it's always something
So, here I make this declaration of war
Keep it coming
More and more
