Decoy Dreams
Early this morning before my feet hit the floor,
Hurriedly I threw a few worships at the Lord.
Suddenly, like a mighty thunderstorm, I was struck mercilessly with the thought of what i'ld someday become.
Still yawning, I staggered to my mirror.
Staring back at me was a perfect reflection of a confused figure.
I immediately teleported to the future.
I see a doctor, a pilot, an actor, director, inventor.
Too many professions
I can't start to mention
O God please I need your direction.
Still in confusion I strayed to my parlor.
Switching on my TV my dreamy eyes was lit by what I see.
This celebrity and music artiste.
Finely arrayed in glitz and costly blinks.
I admired how He sings.
I'm sure he has all He needs and gets things with ease.
Oh I badly wished that was me.
Then through the channels I flipped.
My eyes became the size of an egg yolk as I beamed.
At this TV presenter forecasting the weather glamorous in manners in a lovely attire.
I love how she speaks, eloquent and fluent.
O I can't help but feel impressed.
This'ld someday be me I naively said.
Early each morning my face would appear within the borders of a million TV screens and the whole world will hear my voice.
"I'm gonna become a superstar!"I proudly smiled to myself.
I dream of Ben Carson's story.
Yearning to have His glory.
And someday the whole world will know me.
As for 'Poverty' it's sure getting a quit notice.
Yet I spend my time daily
Living on Mike Tyson's hobbies.
Lavishly spending., never investiting.
How can poverty get it's grip off me. Funny.
Not knowing my fate,
Still holding my faith,
That someday my fake ways would somehow get straight.
I'll outrun my mates.,
And refine my name
For them to see my face.,
They'll have to wait outside my gate.
Like retired pensioners my grandfather's age.
And patiently fill a page.
Mama taught me to think big and Dream big to win.
" Never accept defeat."
" Keep chasing your dreams "
"Only failures are victims of these two words - I QUIT"
Now I Dream big with ease.
Yet I can't do a thing.
See my big dreams are 'toy dreams' and toy things ain't real.
Too often I'm dreaming.
Much often I'm sleeping.
Quite slothful but striving
To give life some meaning.
I don't know my bearing.
Nor where I am heading.
But I've got this vague feeling.,
My big dreams would come real.
I've got Dreams you see.,
Like daydreams they seem.
These daydreams invade me like locusts and bees.
I know my chances are slim.,
And bleak as my dreams.
Now I live my life daily.,
Nourishing these dreams.
I'm having Decoy Dreams I think.
Disturbing my sleep.
These fake dreams I'm having.,
They now make me sick.
