Deep?

Thought: Deep?

People would ask,

Why is it always something "deep" with you?

I mean,

I think being "deep" just shows our perspective or understanding of whatever the topic is,

Whether it's political issues,

philosophical thoughts,

Life experiences,

Or theological,

My topics just usually lead back to God as all things do,

I think that is why I ask questions and really try to listen,

I want to either see people's perspectives,

Or just understand what people are trying to explain..

I think of it like a pool,

I would love diving into the "deep" end and trying to get to the bottom,

To see what's down there,

What is it like?

After all,

That is how I found my way to God,

By questioning..

Even then,

Though I'm in the "deep"end and I reach the bottom,

I still only manage to technically scratch the surface,

I find out there is so much more to Him then I could ever imagine,

And what fun is the shallow end?

"Safe" as it might be,

I don't really believe ignorance is bliss..

I think of it as a person standing there,

Half their body in the water,

Comfortable with what they choose to know,

And It's not always easy to walk from the shallow-end to the "deep"-end,

But life isn't made for comfort..

I've heard that we should learn how to become comfortable with being uncomfortable,

I think it is true,

My first swimming lesson I was about 4 years old,

My teacher floated me out to the deep end,

Though I felt her guiding me,

I still felt a little on edge,

Then she dropped me,

And I swam back to catch my breath...

As uncomfortable as that was,

It was the first time I ever swam..

I feel that being uncomfortable allowed me to grow,

As we walk further and further toward the "deep"-end,

We eventually have to swim,

I'm not saying that is a good method,

To "drop someone" or forcing someone into the "deep" end is the best,

It could turn them away from what we want them to see,

Some people just need to see HOW we do it,

To see the joy in swimming in the "deep" end before they are enticed to join,

And want to experience it for themselves
