In The Deep End
Because I love you, I swam too close to the deep end.
I couldn't touch the floor you slipped under me.
I couldn't bring my head above the surface.
I couldn't understand why your hands were gripping my ankles.
I couldn't tell how hands can sometimes feel like cement.
Because I loved you, I now know how to swim.
I can swim holding hands with him.
I can breathe above the surface seeing his face.
I can use his hugs as floaties.
I can tell the difference between a sink or love.
