Deep Thoughts

Walking through the bright green park

The birds are chirping back and forth

Dogs are barking here and there

Breathing in the crisp clean air.

The small gray pebbles

Crunching under my feet,

The smooth blue waves

Rippling on the manmade lake.

The kids are laughing

While on the playground,

The adults are talking

About the weeks to come.

I take a seat

On the worn wooden bench,

While thoughts are bouncing

All around my head.

I think about the ants

Crawling on the ground,

Their sole purpose in life

Is to find food.

I think about the trees

With old gnarled trunks,

How long have they been here?

How many years to come?

I think about life,

So delicate yet so strong,

Like the ants and the trees, I think...

How long will I be here?

What will I do in my life?
