Deepening the Friendship

Am I dreaming?

Is the love of a friend I feel?

Are we vulnerable?

You smile

The way we laughed

only happens in dreams.

We laughed

when we found something

funny and you showed me

I looked at you

You looked at me with those starry eyes.

I wondered how could this be?

Was I the only one there to ask?

Is this a part of you I'll never see again?

Will you be this vulnerable again?

I was happy to feel

comfortable around you.

As well as you did with me.

When we ended the night

I couldnt help but try

to forget the night

like it was nothing.

When I did I felt foolish.

That a love from a friend

should feel that way.

It felt like I could love again.

Be myself around you.

You were yourself

that's all I asked you to be.

You listened.

My best friend.
