Defeating the Man in the Mirror

The man in the mirror, what a scary face

Always struggling, striving for first place.

But what if he never gets there

And they excuse it as he just does not care

When deep inside he thought all along

That maybe he never really belonged.

That man wants to be someone worth talking about

But how can he when all they say is doubt.

You have to be this and you have to have that,

Everyone talks as if life has a format.

Not being good enough has always been a struggle for me;

However, I know confidence is key.

Believing in myself and all my hard work,

Will get rid of those negative thoughts that often lurk

I want to be great but the only person holding me back

Is that man in the mirror whispering untrue facts.

So I have to actively choose to not listen

If I want to be the amazing person that goes the distance.
