Define Humanity

I look at the image feeling a part of something.

Something meaningful. Something.

Is this what freedom looks like?

Is one like me capable of being free?

When we are used and eaten. They see us —

See me — as nothing more than flesh.

We know it’s wrong. They know it’s wrong.

Yet we are trapped. I am trapped.

We herd along because there is no escape. I follow.

I follow because I have not tasted something other than prison.

The smell of death surrounds me.

The sound of cries makes me deaf.

The feeling of fear can be felt.

I feel. They watch.

How is it that my family and I show more emotion than those who control us?

How are they better than me?

I am not human. They are inhumane.
