Define Me

Dirt caked under my fingernails and in every fine line of my hands,
Defines my life.

Sore muscles and stiff joints,
Defines my life.

Cuts, scrapes, and bruises,
Defines my life.

Blood, sweat, and tears
Define my life.

Disappointments and delight,
Define my life.

Falling off and getting back on,
Defines my life.

Training rain or shine, wind or hail, freezing cold or blazing hot,
Defines my life.

Communicating with a 1,000 pound animal with a mind of its own,
Defines my life.

Long hours of practicing until I can no longer get it wrong,
Defines my life.

Cues that took years to learn and master,
Defines my life.

Looking good while working hard, but not letting it show,
Defines my life.

Year-round training for two minutes in the ring, two minutes to prove to the judge that I have what it takes,
Defines my life.

Hard work and dedication,
Define my life.

Being an equestrian
Is my life.
